Is it better to straighten and part your hair or leave it alone before going to the salon?

Im getting my hair cut like Kairi from kingdom hearts 2. Because my hair is really wavy right now and isnt parted correctly, and the cut i want is a straight hair style is it better to part it and straighten it then go get the cut or just leave it alone and theyll do all the work?
